Jennifer R. Doerr
Jennifer R. Doerr, MA, LMFT is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, experienced in individual therapy, relationship therapy, as well as family therapy.
There is no reason to live your life in fear or in pain, allow me to utilize my gifts in order to enable you to have success in your life and within your self. We all suffer … sometimes silently and other times, outwardly. I know it can be difficult to talk about your experiences, and it takes time to build trust with a new therapist, especially if you have never been to therapy. I promise I will make the process as painless as possible initially and meet you where you are in your life. I want to know you and I want to help you change things that prevent you from growth.
I have always felt this work was my calling from a young child, and this is not only my passion, but also my purpose in life. I was born with a natural capacity for empathy, meaning I have been provided the ability to not only comprehend what you are struggling with, but I am also able to connect to you in a way that enables me to step inside of your world and truly gain an understanding of your circumstances, history, hopes, dreams and more importantly, the obstructions within your life and mind that prevent you from obtaining the peace, love and acceptance that you so desire.
Although, I do not believe that we can blame others or our parents/family for the issues we have as adults, I work through a systemic lens that allows me to appreciate your background, how your family has operated, even generations back, in order to have a holistic view of the belief system in which you were born into and raised by. By doing so, this allows me to find your core belief system within yourself and your mind that prevents you from stepping out of depression, anxiety, and painful relationships.
I have worked with many different cultures and ethnicities, the LGBTQ community, families, children, teenagers, older adults, marital and relationship issues, and adults trying to cope with a variety of issues such as trauma, depression, anxiety, domestic violence, and personality disorders, and have had success with my approach.
Personal Note: I have had my own personal experiences within my life from painful relationships, narcissistic relationships with family, colleagues, and love interests. I have suffered trauma, as many of you, and I have done the work that I will be asking you to do. I believe there is no better therapist than the ones that have actually gone through and been where you are.
I was born in a small town in Indiana and now live in the Sarasota, Florida area and can work with you through HIPPA compliant video conferencing or phone sessions, although I prefer to be able to meet face-to-face via online video, in order to truly connect with you.
